Kiran Ahuja, the Executive Director of the White House Initiative on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (WHIAAPI), is coming to Georgia on Thursday, June 27, 2013, to tour Georgia's DeKalb and Gwinnett Counties, meeting with local AAPI non-profit organizations, businesses, leaders and Georgia elected officials.
Georgia's AAPI population has grown at an astronomical rate--83% between 2000 to 2010 according to the US Census. The Initiative works collaboratively with Federal Agencies to increase AAPI participation in programs in education, commerce, business, health, human services, housing, environment, arts, agriculture, labor and employment, transportation, justice, veterans affairs, and economic and community development. The Initiative seeks to highlight both the tremendous unmet needs in the AAPI communities, as well as the dynamic community assets that can be leveraged to meet many of those needs.
Ms. Ahuja's day will culminate in a gala banquet at Ashiana Restaurant in Global Mall, the largest mall collective of South Asian businesses in Georgia. Do not miss this historic opportunity to meet Ms. Ahuja, engage with the Initiative, and network with Georgia AAPI leaders and elected officials. Dinner includes a delicious Indian banquet buffet for $40/person (advance ticketing; $50 onsite). Please note: slight surcharge to cover for credit card/eventbrite fees.
Sponsorships available, which includes a special VIP RECEPTION for Ms. Ahuja, Sponsors, and elected officials with photo opportunity. All proceeds raised will be earmarked for the 2014 Georgia AAPI Legislative Day at the GA Capitol.
